Is the number of people who follow you stuck at zero?

Have you done everything to increase your follower count but nothing seems to work? Continue reading to learn how to get more followers on Pinterest.

You’ve arrived at the right place if you’re looking at your paltry 100 followers and wondering what you can do to get more followers.

I understand. It seems as though you’ll never reach the next 100 followers.

It’s easy to get discouraged.

But wait…

If you follow these proven strategies, you will be able to get more followers fast.

1. Use Tailwind

Tailwind can easily show you which boards are performing the best.  You will want to pin more pins to these Pinterest boards!  You can also check stats as virality score repins, and engagement score.

You can also look at those group boards that you joined.  If they do not have good virality and engagement scores, I get off of them.

Tailwind also lets you rank the boards and put them in order according to repins, engagement, virality, etc.  The possibilities are endless.

Tailwind Tribes is a newer feature that they offer.  Basically, it is similar to group boards on Pinterest.  You can join a Tribe and add your content and get someone else’s content.  These groups will increase your reach to new people.

I highly recommend you checking Tailwind out.

You can even get a free 14-day trial so you can try it risk-free!

2. Make Pinterest a Priority

If you want to do well on Pinterest you have to make it a priority.

Pinterest likes people who are active on their site. If Pinterest likes you, it will show your content to more people.

Spend time pinning other people’s content. I like to manually pin some each day. I pin a few pins of other people’s content and then I will pin a few of mine.

I also use Tailwind to schedule my pins.

If you are unfamiliar with Tailwind, you can learn more about it here. You can even get a free trial to see if it would be something you are interested in.

3. Update Your Pinterest Profile

Having a relevant profile on Pinterest will increase your chances of getting your pins in front of your audience. Your profile should include keywords that are specific to your niche. Think about what someone might type in the search bar to look for the content that you provide.

Include your website in your profile and a flattering picture. Some people would rather use a logo or an avatar for their profile pic.

Think about your audience. What would your ideal audience expect to see.

If your niche is Personal finance, you would probably expect to see a real person. If you are a computer programmer or gamer, you might see an avatar.

If you are representing a company, you might see the company logo.

4. Focus on Pin Titles & Descriptions

Pinterest is a search engine. The way to get your pins in front of your audience is to write pin titles and descriptions that have relevant keywords.

Again, think about what someone might type in to a search box. Your descriptions need to be in full sentences and make sense. Here is an example of a great SEO optimized pin description.

Notice the keywords, best blogging tools, make money with your blog, and growing your blog are all used in sentences that make sense.

5. Utilize Group Boards

Group boards are essential for helping you gain a following on Pinterest.

Group boards are boards that multiple people can pin to. This is a great way to leverage other people’s followers when you don’t have many of your own.

Where do you find group boards?

Well, you could search Pinterest for hours looking for some group boards to get invited to, but who wants to do that….

Pingroupie can help you find group boards to pin to.

Pingroupie is a website that houses lists of group boards. They are organized by category. Once you get to the site, you can choose the category that best fits your niche.

Next, you can choose how you want the boards organized. You can have them listed by the number of followers, repins, pins, or collaborators.

When you find a board that looks promising, you can hover over the description with your mouse. This pops up the board description and sometimes it will give you directions on how to ask for an invite to collaborate on the board.

The above description shows what the board is about and the directions on how to ask for an invite. Make sure you follow the rules! They might delete you if you don’t.

One more thing about group boards…..Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get accepted or never hear anything back. Just keep on applying and make sure to apply to boards that have more followers than you.

6. Create Amazing Pins

This will go without saying, but in order to attract your potential audience, you must make incredible pins. Have you ever seen those pins with small print or a distracting image? Nobody’s going to click on those pins. Take a look at the two pins below.

Example of a Good pin:

Which pin do you think would get the most attention?

The first one or the second?

Focus on great-looking pins that get clicks and repins rather than followers. People would want to follow you if you have great pins.

7. Great Content

Along with great pins, there’s also great content behind the pins.

Since your content is so impressive, you want your audience to want to come back and follow you or sign up for your email list.

Give the audience something of value. They are devoting time from their busy schedules to read and hopefully learn more from you.

Make it worthwhile for them to spend their time with you.

Do your homework. Blogging necessitates extensive research. Make sure the information you are sharing is accurate and reliable.

Are you unsure what defines good content?

Analyze the competition. Find influential people in your niche and read their posts. What distinguishes them from the rest?

Is it possible for you to do anything similar?

8. Follow And Unfollow

You’ve already heard that following a lot of people and hoping they follow you back is a good way to get followers. You unfollow them if they don’t follow.

This kind of behavior irritates Pinterest. To cut down on this spammy behavior, they’ve set limits on how many people you can follow in a day.

Though you can gain a few followers as a result of this, I do not recommend it.

9. Use Social Share Buttons

Social Share buttons are one of the best ways to encourage your readers to share your content. They may want to forward it to someone else or save it for later.

They are more likely to share if the buttons are right in front of them reminding them to do so. There are a plethora of free plugins available that will automatically apply these to all of your articles.

Add them to the top or bottom of your main website tab, as well.

These sharing buttons are already included in most themes.
