This YouTube Strategy Makes More Money Than Viral Videos

Youtube strategy beats viral videos

The biggest lie about YouTube is that you need to be famous to make money.

Everyone tells you the same old story.

Grind for months, maybe even years.

Beg for subscribers. Pray you hit 4,000 watch hours. Then, and only then, you might start earning a few dollars from ads.

Honestly, it’s a slow, frustrating climb.

It’s the reason most people quit before they ever see a dime.

But there’s another way.

A smarter strategy that lets you start a YouTube channel & make money from the very first video you post. No waiting for permission from YouTube. No giant subscriber count needed. This is a real business plan that can turn a brand-new channel into a money-making machine.

I’m talking about a method that focuses on how much you earn from each view, not just how many views you get.

Here’s exactly what I’m going to show you:

  • The secret “RPV” method that the pros use to earn big
  • How to find digital products that pay you huge commissions
  • A step-by-step guide to creating your first money-making video
  • The biggest lessons I’ve learned so you can skip the mistakes

Let’s build your YouTube business, starting today.

A New Way to Play the YouTube Game

The old YouTube game is all about getting tons of views to earn a little bit of ad money. You’d need maybe 2 million views to make $10,000.

That’s a huge mountain to climb.

The new game is different. It’s all about something I call RPV.

What is RPV (Revenue Per View)?

RPV means Revenue Per View.

It’s a way of saying you focus on making the most money possible from every person who watches your video.

Instead of needing millions of views, you could make that same $10,000 from just 100 dedicated viewers.

How?

By promoting a specific product that solves a specific problem for your audience. You’re not just an entertainer; you’re a problem solver.

And people will happily pay for solutions.

I have seen one single video make over $15,000.

It gets views every day and keeps earning passive income. It’s not viral. It just solves a problem. That’s the power of RPV.

Step 1: Pick a High-Paying Niche

Your first step to start a YouTube channel & make money is picking a niche.

A niche is just the topic your channel will be about.

But not just any topic will do.

What makes a niche great for making money?

A great money-making niche is educational and weirdly specific.

A niche should solve one single, clear problem for a very specific type of person. Broad topics like “self-improvement” don’t work well because one video might be for students, and the next for retired people. You’re not building a loyal audience that way.

Think about it. A channel just for women over 50 who want to lose weight during menopause is incredibly specific. The creator knows exactly who she’s talking to and what their problems are.

I know a creator with a channel like that. She only gets about 20,000 views a video, but she makes over $50,000 a month.

Why?

Because every viewer is the perfect customer for her program.

Step 2: Find Products to Promote

Once you have your niche, you need something to sell.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to create it yourself! You’ll be promoting other people’s products for a commission.

This is called affiliate marketing.

Digital vs. Physical Products: Which Earns More?

You should focus on promoting digital products.

These are things like online courses, software, or memberships. They pay way, way more than physical products, like stuff from Amazon.

I’ve seen this happen firsthand.

A video can get almost 500,000 views and make over 250 sales from Amazon links, but the creator might only walk away with about $500.

If that creator had promoted a good digital product instead, they could have made over $25,000 from that same video.

It’s a big difference.

Where to find these money-making products?

You can find digital products to promote on affiliate platforms. These are websites that connect you with companies who want people like you to promote their stuff online and get sales.

I personally recommend focusing on reputable platforms. You have to be very careful with the platforms you use. I’ve learned that some affiliate platforms make it very difficult to withdraw your money. It’s a painful lesson when you earn commissions but can’t get paid.

Step 3: Get Video Ideas That Get Views

You have a niche and a product. Now you need video ideas. You don’t have to guess what people want to watch. You can use data.

How do you find video ideas that work?

The best way to find video ideas is to “piggyback” on keywords that people are already searching for on YouTube. You want to find keywords that have high search volume (lots of people looking for it) but low competition (not many good videos about it). It is the sweet spot.

A great tool for this is VidIQ. I use it all the time.

For example, if you wanted to promote an AI tool called Pexels, you could use VidIQ and find that “Pexels” gets 61,000 searches a month, and the competition is low. Bingo! You might also see that 4,700 people search “how to use pexels” every month. That’s a perfect video idea.

Proven Title Formulas That Get Clicks

Once you have your keyword, you need a great title. You can use a few title formulas that work incredibly well.

Just fill in the blanks.

  • How I [Desired Outcome] from [Niche] for Beginners Guide
  • The Exact System That [Desired Outcome]
  • [Number] Things That Will [Desired Outcome]
  • This Stops 99% of [Target Audience] from [Dream Outcome]
  • How [Target Audience] Can [Dream Outcome] Without [Pain]

For every product you promote, I recommend making at least five different videos using these title frameworks.

Step 4: Research Your Competition

This step is quick, but so important.

Before you film, search on YouTube for the video you’re about to make.

Watch the top 3-5 videos.

What did they do well?

More importantly, what did they miss? Is there a question they didn’t answer? Is their explanation confusing?

Your job is to make a video that is more helpful than theirs.

Fill in the gaps they left. It’s how you win.

I see so many new creators skip this, and it’s a huge mistake.

Step 5: Get the Right Tags for Your Video

Tags are keywords that you add to your video to help YouTube’s computer brain understand what it’s about.

This helps it show your video to the right people.

Don’t overthink this.

Go to a free website called rapidtags.io/generator.

Type in the main topic of your video (like “Pexels review”). It will spit out a bunch of great tags. Just copy them and paste them into the “tags” section when you upload your video to YouTube. Easy.

Step 6: Optimize Your Title and Description

This is where you seal the deal.

Your video title should start with your main keyword.

A good formula is:

Product Name Review & Tutorial - What It Helps You Do.

For example:

Pexels Review & Tutorial - Make AI Thumbnails Fast”.

Your description is even more important. The very first thing in your description, before anything else, should be your affiliate link.

But don’t just paste the link. Use this magic formula for the text right above it: "Get the result in a specific time without the pain."

Instead of a boring “My link here,” it becomes:

“✅ Get stunning AI thumbnails in 5 minutes without any design skills”.

You can see how much better that is.

My 5 Biggest YouTube Lessons

I’ve learned a lot over the years. I want to share my biggest lessons with you so you can get a head start.

  1. Be Brutally Honest. If you’re reviewing a product, talk about the good AND the bad. People aren’t stupid. They know nothing is perfect. Being honest builds trust, which is the most valuable thing you can have.
  2. Build Your Own Thing Eventually. Promoting affiliate products is the best way to start. But your long-term goal should be to create your own digital product. That way, you keep 100% of the money.
  3. Keep It Simple, Seriously. Don’t use tough words or complicated explanations. I suggest running YouTube scripts through a tool like Grammarly or Hemingwayapp and trying to make them readable even for a 4th grader. Clarity is everything.
  4. Launch It, Even If It’s Not Perfect. Your first video will not be perfect. Or your tenth. That’s okay. The key is to be consistent. Post the video. Learn from it. Make the next one better. Perfection is the enemy of progress.
  5. You Don’t Need Fancy Gear. I’ve seen people start successful channels with nothing more than a basic phone propped up on some books. You don’t need a professional microphone or studio lighting to begin. Don’t let a lack of gear be your excuse. Just start.
